LEGO Ideas 21340 Tales of the Space Age could benefit other review submissions

The official reveal of 21340 Tales of the Space Age could benefit a number of current submissions in the first LEGO Ideas review of 2023.

The LEGO Group today announced details of 21340 Tales of the Space Age, a 688-piece model that will be launching on May 4, 2023 for VIP members, with a wider release on May 8. The fan-designed build was given the thumbs-up in October 2022 as part of the first LEGO Ideas 2022 review.

The brainchild of Jan Woznica, 21340 Tales of the Space Age successfully secured 10,000 votes from supporters, before blasting through the LEGO Ideas review process to eventually arrive on shelves next month. The three original space-related vignettes have been joined by a new fourth build in the set, with the model priced at the low price of just £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99.

The success of 21340 Tales of the Space Age could also potentially benefit a number of submissions in the first LEGO Ideas review of 2023. Fan-made creations such as The Scream, BrickLink-LEGO Colour Table and The Moon: Earth’s Companion offer similar display pieces, with high enough sales of 21340 Tales of the Space Age possibly opening up the door for other such designs to follow suit.

Of course 21340 Tales of the Space Age is just one successful submission that will become a physical set and there’s no way of knowing if the models listed above, or any of the current line-up of designs that have managed to hit the 10K mark, will make it through the LEGO Ideas process this time around.

There are currently 63 submissions in the first LEGO Ideas review of 2023, with the results of which models will reach the next stage of the process due to be announced later in the year.
