LEGO Ideas Elf project sits on a throne of 10,000 supporters

We’re getting closer to having 70 projects in the review stage on LEGO Buy at Buy at Buy at Buy at Ideas, with Elf the Movie making it in at number 66. 

While it’s definitely too early for us to get into the Christmas spirit, this Elf the Movie LEGO Ideas project really does bring about a festive mood. If approved, it would come with a whopping 24 minifigures (some of those are animal figures, but we think it still counts) and 10 of those are elves, along with Santa and his sleigh too.

The project proposal looks at two locations from the film, Santa’s Workshop and Walter Hobbs’ office. There’s a lot of focus on keeping the scene accurate and recognisable as being from Elf the movie, as is often the case with projects based on films (see 76255 The New Guardians’ Ship for a recent good example). 

We can see the accuracy here in the actual setting, looking at the stained glass windows and the set-up of the office. LEGO Buy at Buy at Buy at Buy at Ideas creator Johnathan1986 emphasised the need for versatility with the set, stating that: “My main goal with this set was to allow the playability to recreate scenes from the movie with plenty of space and functionality.”

The proposed project would also include smaller details such as the book from the film, the black and white photo of Buddy’s parents (who are also seen in minifigure form) and the New York City snow globe.

As for what happens now, the Elf the Movie project will go to the LEGO Group as part of the review stage, which will begin this May.
