LEGO Ideas DNA 2.0 Double Helix History cracks the 10K code
The first LEGO Ideas review of 2025 welcomes yet another scientific breakthrough build in the shape of LEGO DNA 2.0 Double Helix History.
Despite a couple of LEGO Ideas projects recently being removed and then restored in the first review of 2025, new fan-designed submissions are continuing to drum up 10K supporters. The latest set to do so is LEGO DNA 2.0 Double Helix History, an incredibly-detailed scientific endeavour created by DNA_Double_Helix.
The model is intended to be a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the landmark DNA structure discovery in 1953, one that offers up a fusion of scientific accuracy with a dash of creative play.
LEGO DNA 2.0 Double Helix History includes a detailed brick-built version of the DNA helix itself, complete with antiparallel strands flowing in opposite directions, individual atoms, and major and minor grooves, as well as a genetic code puzzle for builders to solve.
The LEGO Ideas submission also features a separate laboratory build, with Unicam camera, X-ray diffraction camera, blackboard and plenty of scientific accessories. In addition, LEGO DNA 2.0 Double Helix History comes with minifigures of five scientists involved in solving the DNA code – Rosalind Franklin, Maurice Wilkins, James Watson, Francis Crick and Franklin’s PhD student, Raymond Gosling.
Only time will tell if LEGO DNA 2.0 Double Helix History will succeed in its ambition to become a physical LEGO Ideas set at some point in the future, with the results of the first review of 2025 due to be shared later this year.
